Running Know Your Customer (KYC) or/and Know Your Customer’s Customer (KYCC) checks at every operation such as the following.

Identify the profile of a vessel based on specific manifestations i.e., IMO, flag/ registry, recent change in ownership.
Asserting the risk of a client’s operation with regard to a specific vessel based on the above red flags.
Identify the profile of a client’s counterparty based on indications which are not related to sanctions i.e., Financial Crimes, Anti-Money Laundering, Political Exposed Persons, Regulatory Fines etc.
Asserting the risk of a client’s transaction based on the above red flags i.e., assessing the risk for transactions related to purchasing a new vessel, entering a new charterparty, proceeding with a financial transaction with a financial institution or any other party etc.
